Dispelling The Myths On Executive Coaching Minneapolis

By Gary Phillips

If you are not well familiarized with the new concept stated above then you could easily mistake it for the conventional professional advice that is available from other places. This has led to so many myths to surround the model of executive coaching Minneapolis. It is meant to be a unique type of personal leadership development and below are some truths about various myths that surround it.

There are people who believe that this type of coaching takes up a lot of time but this is not entirely true as it depends on the point of view you hold. As an executive you value your time a lot and you can only create time to do things that add value to your personal development and organization. The sessions usually take about six weeks and are tailored to take place at your work place and at flexible timing to avoid time wastage at all.

There is the myth that states that it is difficult for you to measure the overall outcome of this executive coaching to your organization. This is farther from the truth as it is not always possible for all outcomes to be predictable or measurable as they are based on explorations and discovery. This makes it hard to predict how the outcome will be as it is your human nature involved and it is not predictable.

There is a myth that successful executives do not need this concept at all. This is wrong as even the most successful of all executives based in top 100 companies still require having executive coaches. There is always a room for improvement and these coaches assist in building on your current talent and also unlocking the latent talent.

There is also the assumption that you and most other people could have that everybody is coachable but it is not a true fact as some are more coachable when compared to others. The coaching usually works if you have an open mind and have the will to change. You should always gauge the coachability of your employees before the coaching begins.

There are some quarters that believe that this concept usually premises on the fact that coaches dictate how you manage your business. This is not correct as the only thing that they offer guidance on is how you can use your ideas in running your business. They will give you insights or perspectives that can be used to solve an existing situation but you will decide to use them or not.

It is a common belief amongst people that executive coaching is viewed as a management fad that you could be thinking it could run out of fashion. This is not usually true as this concept has been there for over 20 years although in different guises. Recently the popularity and demand is on the increase as businesses are trying to find ways of beating the harsh economic times.

It is possible that you consider this concept to be an expensive affair. Consider that in coaching your executives are guided by the coach on how to apply what they learn to the benefit of your organization unlike in training where they are left on their own. This has the immediate impact of making more money for your organization making it more of an investment than a cost.
