Why Environmental Mediation Talks Are Important

By Mary Stewart

Conflicts and disputes are very normal to people that work or live together. People may disagree on a number of issues. A couple may quarrel over infidelity matters while two colleagues can engage in exchange of words just because one of them received an award. All these disputes are settled differently depending on the extent of the damage. There is no need for violence of bitter exchange of words because the end result is more and more conflict. Therefore, people need to adopt conflict resolution methods such as engaging in environmental mediation dialogues.

Whenever two people disagree, it takes an impartial person to help them resolve their conflict. This person is also known as a mediator. He/she is supposed to hold separate and private talk with each party before making them to meet. Even though it is a tricky assignment, an impartial negotiator will score especially if the two parties resolve their disputes.

According to most specialists, this is the best way to resolve matters related to domestic environment matters that affect major countries such as Israel, Europe and the US. It is agreeable that countries would spend less if they engaged in dialogues. Also, the outcomes are simply very visible since most of the negotiators talk in a sober manner.

It is important to examine the type of cases that mediators engage in. The most common ones are conflicts arising from money laundering activities, disputes between local residents and the government and land pollution. The mediator will come in to hold talks so that the issue is addressed immediately.

There are few mediators located in the US. This is because it is quite a sensitive area. Their main duties involve discussing of complex issues. Together with the stakeholders, they are able to come to an agreement to achieve common goals. The US institute is a body that points out different experts who are good at it.

The expert has various roles to play. Supposing an organization wants to appoint a third party to assist them in managing their operations. They will need a mediator to help them make the right choice. Obviously, the third eye is able to see what the rest of the people do not. Once the decision has been made, the new elect can comfortably prove that they did not make the wrong choice by working well.

One of the biggest achievements that this initiative has made is illustrated in the Antarctica treaty. In this treaty, 41 states are involved in decision making process. The countries have also maintained their sovereignty even as they held talks with an outside authority. This clearly illustrates that different countries can work together to achieve their goals.

Even though most people often ignore the fact that their environment is very important, they cannot escape the idea. Numerous concerns have been raised thus countries have come together to discuss ways of protecting it. A mediator is often involved in these talks to give their impartial deliberations especially when there is a conflict between two or more countries.
