Find The Most Appropriate Tier Sheets Today

By Leticia Morton

Tier sheets is a thin pallet sized sheet that is made of heavy laminated Kraft paperboard, plastic or sometimes corrugated fiberboard. It is used as a unit load support device delivery of vehicles and transportation of products. The structural strength of the sheet supports the weight of the product load when they are supported by a a pallet board, conveyor surface and a flat load carrying surface.

Although one can use wooden pallets in the place of the sheet, using the latter has a lot of advantages. One of them is that using a sheet saves more space than using pallets. This allows for more products to be put into the containers being used for transit. Another advantage is that the sheet does not require any maintenance. This is because unlike the wooden pallets, they can be replaced. Their lightness also reduces the costs of shipping.

There are several types of the slip sheets, these can be chosen for transportation of load depending on the desired use of the sheet. Usually the slip sheet is shaped and dimensioned according to the size of the product or the unit load. Both the number of lip extensions and the material from which the sheet is made determines the type.

For one there is the single lip sheet. This sheet has a lip facing the narrow part of the unit load that has a rectangular shape and the delivery truck door. It seeks to maximize space utilization of the delivery truck and the process of loading and unloading. This also minimizes the travel path clearance.

The other type is known as the multiple lip slip sheet. This has multiple lips facing more than one side and is mostly used on containers placed on either rail cars or ocean delivery vehicles. They make it possible for a loading device to pack the unit load a different side than the one for unloading the same unit load from.

There are several options of handling the lips when you are loading goods for transporting. The first portion is leaving the lip extended so that there would be clearance for the travel path which will consequently allow more clearance for the travel path. The second method of handling the lip is by taping it against the unit load in the event that more push pull activities are needed. The last thing is to cut the lip when it is no longer required.

When looking for a particular design in a slip sheet there are certain factors that should be considered. One of them is the size, weight and dimension of the of the unit load that is awaiting transit. The method of storage is also another factor of consideration. The third consideration that is equally important is the conditions present during transit, for example the humidity, temperature and moisture.

Ensure you find only the best tier sheets there is in the market. Do not pass an opportunity to learn something new about them. Possessing the necessary knowledge about this sheet will prove rewarding at one time or another.
