Want A Job As A Mermaid?

There is a variety of creatures in the world's oceans. Some of them are real and some of them are stuff of lore. Among those that come from tales told over many a pint of ale are Davy Jones Locker, Neptune, and the mermaid. Of those that fill a tale over a pint of ale are Neptune, Davy Jone's locker and of course mermaids.

A mermaid is that beautiful creature of the ocean who is half fish and half human. She lures her inspecting victims with her beauty and drags them below the surface of the water. Apparently she is a mixture of the earth and ocean. The Greeks saw her a representing the mystery of the ocean. What did become of those unfortunate sailors?

All this is just Greek mythology but people do perform as mermaids. They may have tails, but they are still beautiful women.

Want to get a job as a mermaid?

You will have to have a love of water. You're swimming with a tail instead of two feet or swim fins so the action is distinctly different. First off you work as a model to learn about how to present yourself. A lot of the time you won't be swimming in the sea. As you will be entertaining others a lot of the time, how you create a mystic presence, will be important. Other important considerations are how a camera works and different shooting angles.

Learn about the ocean. Talk to divers and other people who are always in the water. Find out how they see the oceans. Find one or two that are underwater photographers and get some shots to form a portfolio. A portfolio is necessary to impress potential employers.

Learn how to perform by doing the likes of kid's parties. By not being too critical of you the kids can allow you get the performance just right.

Have a go at creating a tail of your own.

One person who was a model and became a mermaid is Hannah Frasier. It is better to make a tail for your body than copy another's one, Hannah says. You want it to feel natural. In addition, certain shapes create more power than others do, and they glide through the water better. You should be creative and make it your own, says Hannah.
