Important Details You Need To Know About The Electroless Nickel Coating MI

By Debra Howard

Nickel phosphorus is a covering that can be made from the electroless nickel (EN) plating process. It is a substance that is wear and tear resistant, develops corrosion and more so makes the surface hard. During the plating process, you will not require passing an electric current through the nickel surface. The entire process will occur as a result of chemical procedures. Below are some of the elements that you need to know about the electroless nickel coating MI.

It can offer a homogeneous coating. This can be attributed to the chemical process during its formation that makes the surface flexible in managing the thickness of that coating. The process can, however, be very complicated as total attention and accuracy.

Make sure the parts are prepared. The materials to be used ought to be clean. Contaminated parts will compromise the outcome of the coating. It is best you wash them yourself then rinse just to be sure there is no particle from the last chemical process.

Ensure that the water you are using is completely pure. The entire chemical process can be compromised if the water contains impurities. It is, therefore, wise that the water is tested and purified completely to get rid of possible contaminants like ions, foreign matter among other substances.

Consider the kind of tank you will use for this process. It is advisable that you either use a polypropylene or stainless steel tank during this process. The stainless tanks, for instance, will last for long but they will require passivation process to make them anodic. Polypropylene is hence the most preferred as it will prevent the plate out of the EN back in that tank.

Filtering is another thing to consider. When you filter, you eliminate the insoluble materials. With the insoluble materials removed you stand a better chance of coming up with a more pure solution for the process. This will then, in turn, complete the coating giving you the best results.

Keep the temperature in check at all times. You need to be extra keen in these levels of temperature set during the process. They need not be too high as that might quicken the decomposition process while on the other hand, the process might be sluggish if the temperatures are low.

You should also ensure that you do the continuous solution testing. You need to keep a good balance of these chemicals for your bath plating to be very effective. Monitor closely the quantities of the chemicals and ensure that they are in the right quantity. It is much possible to control at its initial stages rather than waiting to get a messy end at the end of the entire procedure.

Also, make sure you have the post treatment processes. The outcome of the process can be stained. You can avoid this by having the post treatment, this way you will be sure that the results will be positive. You can also assess the possible outcome and rectify if the outcome is not as expected.
