The first step involved with health administration is the assessment. Appropriate information has to be gathered from a client, medical practitioners, and family members. The main aim of this assessment is usually to develop a good appreciation of the proper personal requirements and formulate a proper plan on how to reduce the overall impact of an existing situation, finances, social life and job prospects. This will help in making the life of a client less complicated. It also makes the patient feel loved and accepted within the community.

The work of the manager usually entails many facets that include aiding the family of a patient in raising funds, attending all the necessary meetings, advocacy and notifying the family on important support groups which can assist the family. Rehabilitation goals have to be identified, and a convenient and cost effective plan has to be outlined. The expert will create and maintain all the written records regarding the progress and reviews collected during the treatment. Case managers usually adhere to codes and ethics that guide them through this task. This only aims at making sure reliable and ethical services are provided to clients and at the appropriate time.
