How To Choose The Right Executive Resume Writing Service

By Anita Ortega

Ever since the massive loss of jobs on Wall Street and the economic collapse a few years ago it has been quite challenging to get an executive position. Executives nowadays have to compete with each other to land a position in many companies wherein these positions are also getting very scarce. As such, executives need to have good curriculum vita and resumes to compete with each other to land such positions and jobs. Thus it may be to the executive advantage that he or she have a good executive resume writing service at his or her disposal.

There has been quite a deluge of these kind of services of late. This can only mean that many people are in fact looking for this kind of service, and that is why so many people are offering it. The only thing to do therefore when one is looking is how to find the right one to get the job done.

Setting up a checklist with some search criteria should help do the trick in choosing the right service for you. Remember that price does not necessarily factor always as a criteria, although it is very important. There are other qualities or criteria that you can consider. On your checklist, consider the following points being relevance and adaptability, level of conciseness, and clarity and accuracy.

Curriculum vita have changed in format and style since the 1960s. First it was vogue to have very thick resumes and work experience data all piled up and bound in one thick document. It was not unheard of for an executive in the past to hand in a thirty page application replete with references and supporting documents. But in this day and age, this is no longer the case.

The application that you send in must adapt to the current needs of the day as well as being relevant. Remember that the one reading your letter and resume will not have a lot of time and will probably be poring over a lot of other items as well. Use a standard executive format so the one who sees it knows that it is worth reading. A brief two page maximum covering all your main qualities is the accepted standard printed in clear and readable font. The use of arial and times new roman in sizes of 12 or 14 points is usually recommended.

What you have written and submitted should be concise. It should be to the point and direct. The more information you can put across in as little words as possible will do wonders in your being shortlisted. Have a wide use of vocabulary but avoid extremely superfluous or exaggerated words.

Accuracy in what you write is also very much needed. Employers will only look at your resume if it fits the job at hand. Look at the job requirements on the posted ad and fit your skills to match those that are needed. This rule of thumb will go a long way in you getting the attention you need and the much sought after job interview.

When trying to decide then for who to hire for your needs in resume writing, then ask each one you have an eye on to send you a sample of what they can provide. Have a look out for the items we have discussed in this article so that you can have an easier time deciding. Once you have shortlisted at least three candidates, then use other criteria of your choosing to finally get the right one.
