Simple, Cost-Effective Ways To Thank Your Employees

By Jansen Wilhelmsen

With the economy still on the mend, many employers can't offer a lot of perks or benefits for their employees. While you might not be able to afford a lavish company party or you might not be able to offer pay raises and big bonuses, there are some cost-effective ways to show employees that you appreciate their hard work. Here are a few suggestions that employees might enjoy.

While most employees aren't jumping up and down in excitement when you announce that it's time for the weekly staff meeting, they will be a lot more enthusiastic if food is involved. While you could just offer coffee and bottled water, adding some muffins, cookies or doughnuts would be a very inexpensive way to reward your staff. Offering a full lunch is an even better treat and you could consider doing this once a week. You could have sandwiches brought in, have pizza delivered or try a full catered lunch from time to time.

If you can stock a few snacks and beverages in the staff kitchen or break area, this is always much appreciated by employees. You could have fresh coffee made throughout the day or install a coffee maker that makes individual cups of coffee. Bottled water or a cooler with hot and cold filtered water also can be available, as well as tea, sodas, fruit, pretzels, granola bars and other quick snacks. You can even take suggestions about what type of snacks people prefer.

If your employees work long hours in an office, you could offer a few perks that might make their life easier. You can hire a company to come and wash employee cars or even to provide oil changes. Some companies even provide a voucher for home cleaning services from time to time, which can really show employees as well as their partners and spouses that you value their time.

If your business is the type where employees work on weekends or perhaps late at night, one bonus item you could consider is having a television with DirecTV placed in a break area or a conference room. Your employees are sure to appreciate having DirecTV on hand, especially if they are working long hours. Just taking a few minutes to watch a basketball game or another sporting event can be a nice way to take a break and relax before getting back to work.

This is a perk that your staff will appreciate highly, but it's also one that doesn't cost a great deal of money. Not only is satellite TV, such as DirecTV, a cost-effective perk, it provides a huge variety in channel options, and your employees will appreciate the variety of entertainment, news and sports channels. It's also a great idea to have DirecTV installed in your waiting areas so that clients can relax while they wait for an appointment or perhaps to have their car serviced. Integra Systems can install, maintain and provide support for your DirecTV commercial account. In addition they can set up a Status Solutions system that will monitor entrances, exits, the fire panels and your HVAC system.
