He should know everything about the breed that he is selling. There are various breeds who need special attention and his litters may need special attention, as well. There are potential buyers who ask a lot of questions to the sellers in taking care of the pup and its proper maintenance. He needs to be prepared for these questions.

He should be certain that he follows the laws regarding the breeding and sale of these animals. With this, he can avoid penalties and fines associated with selling animals illegally. Different states also have different laws about this so he needs to check the existing laws of those buyers who are living on another state. A large number of states require selling puppies who are more than two months old.

He needs to employ several marketing methods to inform the public that he is selling the little ones. Breeders who have enough money to spare use television advertisements and radio commercials to put the word out. However, most of the breeders will go with print advertisements and handing out fliers or putting up posters for this undertaking.

A photograph of the litter should be handed out, as well. Possible buyers will be able to have an initial look at it. Once their interests are raised, a meet up can be arranged for them to be taking a closer look. Only one pup should be on one photograph if a certain number of puppies are being put up for sale.

Prices for each pup should be set. The right price can be determined with the help of several factors. These could include quality of the breeds, the price which is prevailing in the market, and other criteria. The price set should not be too expensive so that it will not scare people away from him and turn their attention to the next available seller.

If there are a lot of prospective buyers interested, the individual needs to screen them out. He may need to determine how many persons are living in his house, how big is his house, or how often can he take the pup to the veterinarian. A responsible breeder will certainly know if a buyer will be a responsible owner.

Once he goes with a certain buyer, both of them should sign a contract. They can agree as to the mode of payment, whether in cash or with checks. After this, the buyer can then take his new pet to its new home.
