Commercial Fire Systems: Improve Child Safety

By Mark Mahaffey

If you know anything about children, you know how they love to play. And one of their favorite places to play is in indoor play areas. These play areas are a great way for moms to relax and bring their children. However, if a fire happened in one of these buildings, it could be very dangerous.

The answer is a reliable fire system. And the best fire systems for play places are those that are not only sensitive to smoke, but also to heat. If the fire systems only detect smoke, then a quick burning fire that does not produce much smoke may go unnoticed until it is too late.

But a fire system that will also sound the alarm when excessive heat is detected would give the children and their parents time to evacuate the play place in plenty of time to be safe. You can buy reasonably priced heat and smoke detectors, so cost should not prohibit you from installing them.

Another building where lots of kids congregate is in schools. The best way to keep schools safe from fire is to make sure that the commercial fire system installed in schools includes sprinkler systems. When a fire emergency occurs, the number one priority is to get everyone out of the building as fast as possible.

Sometimes you cannot move that many children around quickly enough. And if the fire is continuing to rage out of control, you may run out of time. Even if the flames are not too bad in any given area of the building, the smoke can be enough to kill people who have not yet escaped.

For this reason, it is recommended that you install sprinklers in the school. When the sprinklers come on, they can sometimes prevent the fire from getting too large, too fast. This will make it easier for the fire department to put the fire out when they arrive. Even though the water from the sprinklers may damage some items, it is a small price to pay to save lives.
