Considerations On Choosing Magazines For Tween Girls

By Young Lindsay

Being able to read should be a right and with this, knowing what to read and what to get from it is also important. Although it matters that there should be knowledge and also entertainment, but this needs to appropriately match with the reader. Books and other sources have always been giving knowledge to people and this has branched out to different forms already with technology.

Historically, magazines are a development from old scripts in the 1600s, although the first was published in Germany around that time and in America it was around 1700s. But these have been categorized further and dissected into age groups, interests, locality, etc. In order to cater more to a specified target of people. One of these categories are magazines for tween girls.

Due to the views in society and the problems and issues that most teenagers are facing, it has become difficult for them to acquire the best materials and experiences for their growth. Parents should also be very observant and picky with which materials they are reading. This is in order to provide them with appropriate and timely education and knowledge.

This type of magazine can also be further categorized into different topics or interests for teenagers. This makes them have more choices in their reading materials. These can be related to education, general interests, sports, and some are gender specific. These can be bought at any retail stores and even online for either one time purchase or subscription.

It is quite tricky and takes more effort to figure out which of those tons of magazine titles are suitable to read and that gives enough contents in all aspects. As parents, you can read them one by one and figure them out yourself since many of these can be very different from each other even with the same target audience. As teenagers, it should hold entertainment value and while doing so, providing enough information, knowledge and techniques on everyday stuff.

There are some that can provide all of these and it takes a little bit of looking up on reviews and ratings, as well as recommendations from friends and relatives on which ones are most suited. Again as a parent, you need to look at your own issues and then to the issues of your children. You can use this as basis for the type of mag that you are going to provide your kids.

So, before choosing on what mag to subscribe, test one out and see if you and your kids would like it. Get feedbacks from them. After this, you can test out more and decide on which one fits. Be aware that there are magazines that are targeted for tween girls in general but can be subcategorized further for only those fifteen and above which might not be appropriate for those fourteen and below.

There are a lot of drawbacks to magazines as opposed to technical books and other types of books. Magazines can most of the time provide perspective that can be harmful to your children in terms of body image and interpersonal relationships. So it is best to give them other reading materials that can make them well rounded and have a wider perspective of life and the world.

Overall, what everyone gets from this is all the advantages of reading, which is learning and knowledge. Although it is already mentioned that these ages have the most susceptible minds when it comes to almost everything, then they need to only be given the right kind of information on a timed manner. Their upbringing and their growth is crucial with these exposures.
