By Andrew Hill

If you have just moved to a new place or country, you may feel so lonely and isolated because of lack of buddies. Therefore, you have to find a way of having new companions as soon as possible. Making friends in Jamaica is not difficult because the people of this country are friendly. Even though the place is hot, you can have a good time if you are with buddies. People of this country are also very welcoming and social hence, if you follow these tips, you will be able to form new friendships.

A mile can be so charming thus it is wise always to smile when you meet the natives of this place. They, in turn, tend to be so responsive to any positive energy thus they will smile back. They are not shy people hence they may even strike up a conversation and get to know you more after the smile. This way, you will have acquired a new buddy.

Greetings are also the core of everything. Therefore, make sure that you greet the locals in the morning, noon or evening. This way, they will perceive you to be a kind and polite person. This is because greetings are a sign of politeness and respect in their culture, especially to a stranger. Therefore, your innocent greetings can be so sweet to another person who may start a friendship with you.

To add on that, if you show that you are interested greatly in their culture, they can see it as an act of appreciation. Thus, if you ask any person you meet and request them to explain their culture to you, they will do that with an open mind. They will make sure that you have understood their wide and beautiful culture.

Sharing you drinks is another way of forming new companionship. Even though a person may not be a heavy drinker, alcohol tends to bring people together. You may even invite a person to join you for a drink in your house, and they will accept gladly if you are polite.

Another option that you can use to land yourself a new companion is fro asking for directions. You may be lost since it is a new place thus if you politely ask for directions, the natives will show you the way and even ask you where you are from. Since they enjoy meeting foreigners, they can become your mates.

The sharing of food can form the best companionship. Therefore, if one ask a local to prepare you their native food, you can be surprised that he/she will accept with an open heart. More so, if one tell them how excited you are to be in their country, they can offer to show you around, and you will end up becoming good mates.

To sum up, ensure that you attend any social event that comes up. This way, you can meet new local buddies and even other foreigners that you may strike a conversation with. Events like the reggae sum fest are the best opportunities to mingle with people who have similar interests, and you become mates.
