A New Clinical Method Of Therapy Is Here

By Ronald Lewis

Children are a joy to watch and have. These little angels give life and laughter to homes. A home is quiet and dreary without their presence. They are cute and lovable and can be very funny at times. Parents give them special attention as they grow under their watchful gaze. Sadly, there are some who are born with brain deficiencies. One does not have to worry. They can engage the services of a therapist who has child centered play therapy certification.

When infants become toddlers, guardians will now be able to discern aberrant behavior. This can be a sign of a mental deficiency. Parents have to be extra careful in assessing such behavior as it could be mistaken as some sort of disease. It is not good to take chances. The best option is to consult a medical practitioner. Even so, there have been cases when this condition has been misdiagnosed further complicating things.

Children become more problematic as they grow. This can be caused by the absence of proper care and guidance from parents who are always at work. It also is very definitive that there is a failure in communications as adults have the tendency to misunderstand and negatively react to kid tantrums. There is a known gap of communication between adults and children and this becomes wider as grownups try to impose their method of communicating.

Talking or speaking to youngsters will stunt the development of the kids. This is because they are still in the process of learning the medium and do not yet have an adequate facility. It really is awkward and restrictive when one comes to think about it. Having adequate speech facility will take years to develop yet most grownups are oblivious of this.

Verbal expression through speech is for adults as playing is to a child. If one carefully observes a kid at play, it can be discerned that it definitely is a medium for exploring relationships, self fulfillment, displaying wishes, describing the experience, and expressing feelings. This type of intervention uses the technique of being with them rather than imposing on them.

Children reveal more about their inner selves when you talk to them with things that perk up their attention. Asking about their toys, playmates, pets, and things they like will elicit a positive reaction compared to when you directly ask them about what is bothering them. This intervention is aimed at developing a child. This will give them an avenue to resolve issues with a means that is not awkward for them.

The development of language in youngsters lags behind the development of their ability for recognition. That is why kids often have imaginary friends. Their world is a world of play, fantasy, imagination, and make believe. This therapy makes use of toys and views them as a means of expression that kids are adept and familiar with. The use of toys allows children to expunge anxieties, fears, and bad feelings to objects rather than to people.

This intervention positively employs playing as a very important tool to give children an avenue to express their hidden world. They employ toys to symbolize and represent actual experiences that they cannot express through speech. This is to their liking. By playing out bad experiences they are able to realize by themselves the answer to their questions and can better cope with challenges.

This practice is governed by the association for play therapy. It has very stringent requirements. Certification includes therapists, therapist supervisors, and school based registered therapists. To be certified one must possess a masters degree in child development and adult psychotherapy or its equivalent field. Applicants must have two thousand or more hours of clinical exposure.
