Importance Of Installing Outdoor Video Surveillance Correctly

By Grace Rivas

It is important for anyone who values their safety to invest in security measures that prevent intruders from getting into their property. If they happen to get in, then you can capture them in the act through outdoor video surveillance and use the footage as evidence in their criminal case. Investing in this equipment does not require a lot of cash as their installation and maintenance are quite inexpensive. What you need to ensure is that you get a very qualified person to perform the installation for you.

They should be well experienced in such matters thus have done several other similar projects before that. Ask you friends and relatives to connect you to those who installed their cameras for them if you like the kind of job that was done. You can also ask the suppliers of such equipment to provide an expert to do the installation for you in instances where you are not able to do it yourself.

Look for a convenient location that overlooks a large space in your compound or the street. Get a spot right under the roof at the point where it meets the walls. This will provide a nice vantage point as it will be well hidden thus cannot be easily spotted by any intruders. Also, it will be protected from harsh weather condition especially if it is not the waterproof kind of equipment.

Place it in a place where there are no huge trees or buildings obstructing it from its view. This is important so that you can capture any movements from as far as possible. I should be fixed steadily thus prevent any unnecessary movements that can result into blurred images and videos. These are very unreliable.

Make sure that you buy a camera that can zoom automatically so that it can capture objects from a further distance than normal cameras. It should be sensitive to objects and flexible enough to follow them as they change direction and position. This 360-degree feature enables it to capture a larger radius of the surrounding.

If you are installing a wired camera, you need to fix wires in a safe way to prevent them from getting spoilt. The best thing to do is to nail them on wooden boards then attach them to the walls appropriately. This will also ensure that you do not cause damage to your walls by drilling many holes into them. If you happen to have a space between the roof and the walls, then you can use that space to pass the cables from inside the house.

Wireless cameras require that you have very reliable internet connection to relay images and videos to the screen monitors on the house. It should be uninterrupted so that it can run all day and all night. This way, you will be able to know what happened at any time.

Find a safe place to store all the findings from outdoor video surveillance. Password protect all your equipment so that very few people have access to the footage. This will prevent intruders from interfering with it thus destroying potentially useful information.
