An air freshener is a consumer product that is used in homes or in restrooms to emit fragrance. These commercial products come in different brands and methods. Some common air fresheners include candles, sprays, gels, oils, plug-ins and beads. Some air fresheners are known to provoke asthma and allergy in some people. For that matter, consider not using home air freshener if you are allergic to them. Home air freshening is not limited only to sprays but can also involve using organic materials to freshen air. Some People use air fresheners to eliminate odor from their homes while others use them because they emit pleasant odors.

Consider finding out the cause of odor in your home. You will be able to save on fresheners. Time spent searching for these products can also be saved and used in other activities. Dirty shoes, laundry, dogs, fish, beds and carpets contribute to you house odor. Consider washing these items as they be the reason your house smells bad. Keep dirty utensils clean and odor will stay away.

Prior purchasing any air freshener, bear in mind the risks involved in the usage of these products. These products contain chemicals that are very toxic to humans. An example of such toxic chemicals is the phthalate esters. They are known to cause reproductive problems and aggravate asthma in humans. These fresheners do not get rid of bad smell. They introduce artificial odors that are more powerful compared to the existing odors in your house.

You should know that, the introduced new smell is not clean at all. It is even dangerous to your health. This is why you should learn some natural methods of eliminating odor from your house. These methods are safe and convenient. Implementing them will save you money and your health will not be at risk.

To get started with odor elimination, start by cleaning your home. Ensure that there is no garbage inside your house. You also need to wash the house clean. Make sure you wash where your dog sleeps. Also, clean the areas it hangs out. If this is done properly, you will be sure of an odor free environment because you will have eliminated the sites that harbor odors.

Vacuum and cleaners can really help. Since carpets harbor most dirt in your house, consider vacuuming thoroughly. You will end up removing dirt that causes odor. Use baking soda to suck bad odors. Steam cleaners work in a similar way.

Plant some houseplants around your home. Plants are known to purify air around your home. They are known to fill homes with natural scents. These scents are known to drive away odors therefore leaving your home smelling great. Additionally, they make your home beautiful because they are naturally beautiful. Some of the plants include, bamboo, African violet, lady plant, velvet plant, yucca, gloxinia among others.

Vinegar is your friend. A well known natural deodorizer that is not complicated when it comes to usage. Just leave a bowl of vinegar outside to wake up to a fresh environment.
