Finding a Safe and Efficient Packaging Solution

By Jim Thorpe

Nearly everything is becoming eco-friendly these days. It used to be that you had to recycle your paper or milk jugs and that was the extent to which you could help save the environment.

Although this can be a very sad time for them, they know that what they're doing is worth it, and they stick to their posts even though they long to come home. The miracles of modern technology can make it so they can see and talk to their families via video chat on these special days.

First, you should make sure that you understand how you are going to protect the product that you are going to use. There are a lot of people that try to make sure the package is a perfect fit rather than ensuring that the packaging is going to actually protect the product while shipping.

Your package needs to be the barrier that will protect the product from everything around it. You want to make sure that you take the time that you need to develop a package that is going to ensure the product is not harmed in any way while it is being tossed around through shipment.

It all depends on the carrier you send it through (normal international post, DHL or military) and the customs regulations it has to go through once it gets to the right country. Find out what delays you can expect from your packaging provider and customs regulations.

Also make sure you buy or use them with the attitude of having your consumers reuse them. Whether you are using packaging for a product, a gift, or a package, be sure to either 1) put it away to use again later, or 2) encourage the person inheriting the packaging to do the same.

They likely are going to be what you're looking for. If you need substance to your packaging, then you can still go for more sturdy options, but you should suggest other uses and recycling options for those you send this packaging to. Some of these can last a lifetime when properly taken care of.

Make sure that you take the time that you need to ensure that the package is not too small so that it does not burst. Some shipping companies will simply return your product to you if the product within the packaging ends up bursting through the packaging so that it is exposed while shipping.

Remember what he likes to do and send him something related to that. Next, get her something that she can't get herself.

You would be surprised what soldiers begin to miss when they're deployed. Not every country has the same standards of living as Americans enjoy.

Cardboard simply does not last long enough to be reused multiple times. It also doesn't break down as easily as other environmental packaging options.

Some people take the time that they need to add bubble wrap to the packaging. Bubble wrap can be found at any packaging store and it is important that you find a bubble wrap that is going to provide you with some quality cushioning so that you can be sure it does its job.

You never know how much a square of carpet can make a loved one smile. Get something from your everyday life and send it over sees. Finally, get them simple comforts that they need. If you know that your husband or father hates the brand of soap the military provides, send him a few bars of his favorite kind.

While you are developing packaging you should be sure that you look into the self-containing packages as well. There are a lot of people that use blister packaging to keep their package safe when it is being sold and to ensure that customers know their package was not tampered with.

It's just like getting a fifty cent raise. Earning fifty cents more every hour will earn you over a thousand extra dollars at the end of the year if you work a full-time job. A small amount can go a very long way in the long run in regards to sustainable packaging as well.
