Know Your Valentines Day Flowers

It is really important to know the symbolic meanings associated with flowers when you gift them to your loved ones. When you consciously choose a certain color, variety or number of flowers for someone, you bring a whole new depth to the gesture of gifting flowers.

Red Rose

The red rose signifies the most powerful emotion that is love. In the ancient Roman and Greek time roses used to be used to prepare perfume, medicine and food & drink. However in modern times, there is no better way of displaying passion and romance than handing over a bouquet of roses. A quick tip to maintain your red rose in perfect condition is to carefully wrap paper around the top so they are held upright, re-cut the stems and put in very hot water, leave them there overnight and they will be longer lasting by morning.

Syringa

If this Valentines Day is your first with someone special, then there is no better way than conveying your emotions than with a bunch of fresh syringa flowers. Syringa means the first emotions of love. So,this would be the perfect way for you to show that new lover your special feelings.

Tulip

Tulips are one of the most well-known flower worldwide,the tulip is a perennial, bulbous plant with showy flowers in the genus Tulipa.Up to 109 species, they can come in various colors which all portray different meanings. Pink Tulips are a symbol of caring, attachment and good wishes. They would make perfect gift for a friend or family member.The red tulip symbolizes love and romance.White Tulips represents purity, innocence, forgiveness and respect, they would be a great flower to say 'I am sorry' in a delicate way.

Carnation

The Carnation also know as Dianthus caryophyllus is a very meaningful flower. It's scientific name dianthus roughly means 'flower of love'. This would be a perfect flower to give to your wife or a long term partner. These flowers are sweetly scented; the original natural flower color is bright pinkish-purple, but cultivars of other colors, including red, white, yellow and green, have been developed. Light red carnations represent admiration, while dark red convey deep love and affection. White carnations symbolize pure love and good luck, while striped carnations symbolize regret that a love cannot be shared. This would be great way to express regret to someone who you cannot share valentines day with. Pink carnations have the most symbolic and historical significance. According to a Christian legend, carnations first appeared on Earth as Jesus carried the Cross. The Virgin Mary shed tears at Jesus' plight, and carnations sprang up from where her tears fell. Thus the pink carnation became the symbol of a mother's love and endless affection.
