This has many benefits, and is especially good for folks struggling with problems of social isolation and loneliness. The great thing is one would be mixing with others that share a common interest, which is one of the reasons many newcomers to this activity undergo positive lifestyle changes relatively quickly.

Apparently, consistent social dancing improves cognitive functioning. It requires complex brain functions to remember and perform the kinds of moves dancers exhibit. Moreover, the types of cognitive functions being engaged are quite different from the ones people ordinarily use during every day life. As such, many believe that it is an ideal activity to help prevent impaired brain functioning from manifesting in later life, like Alzheimer's disease, for instance.

Since dancing is fun, it puts enjoyment back in people's lives. And it does not matter what levels of skill or accomplishment the individual achieves. Even watching others glide elegantly through dance moves at a social event tends to fill onlookers with joy and admiration. For most people the important aspect of taking up this delightful art form is that, irrespective of how good one becomes, it is the sheer enjoyment one derives from it that matters most.
