Radio Over IP In Business

By Bertha Wells

In many places in today's market communications are a matter of choice. The choice in question is usually what cell service do you want to go with. At this point the company will choose one of the big companies. However, the smaller companies that are really thinking are going with Radio over IP. This is a push to talk system that utilizes the Internet for the service and it is out-servicing the big cell companies.

With a standard cellular system as established, your signal bounces off cell towers as it makes its way to where the call is going. If the tower is busy or some sort of interference is occurring then the signal can be and is interrupted. This makes for many lost calls and dropped calls. Something that does not bode well in the business world.

While this might be a great way for some people to get their employees communications in the field it is also expensive. It is expensive and you also have to involve a big company to service the network. This can sometimes be a problem because companies do not like having to rely on each other and this often becomes the case when deploying a cell phone service.

Consider what is already established for these systems. The Internet is the infrastructure. All that a company needs to purchase is the software to run the system and the phones. No monthly service for each phone is necessary like with one of the bigger cellular companies. You can control your own service. Speaking of service, what do you usually get with one of the big cell companies? You get service problems.

With the cost savings in the long run it is almost a no-brainer which is the better choice for any business, especially a smaller start-up. This being the case, many companies will opt to go with the RoIP system. In addition, the service gets to the end user faster, you will get almost instant service with these types of networks. Standard cell service cannot promise the same.

The employees and the end-user enjoy the systems because they are not as flawed as a cell phone can sometimes be. In many cases start-ups will try to get their communications up cheaply because they would like to spend that money elsewhere. So they try to save money anywhere they can, and this offers them that opportunity.

This network is very similar to the VoIP systems that use the Internet for telephone communications also. This is one reason why it often makes sense to people because they are already familiar with the system and how it works. Using this type of network will also give your communications a speed that you are not used to with a typical cellular company.

Business today often means speed of service and integrity of service. Radio over IP can offer any company both of these. The network that runs the system already exists and the costs are lower in the long run. Add to that the service ration and the fact that communications are almost instant with push to talk and you have a system that almost any business would want.
