How Carbonless Printing Is Mandatory In Many Business Settings

By Rhea Solomon

Many business papers are still generated regardless of the demand, by many, to go paperless. There are still things that need to be written or printed on so that an original and at least one copy exists. In the old days, carbon paper was used, however, that system has given way to forms without carbon and the carbonless printing industry is still going strong.

You will find these forms in many applications where a copy must be available immediately. Bill of sale forms are some of the most common items. Restaurant checks will often be on these and shipping documents will also be in this form. The uses for these are limited only be the imagination and the vital need.

Printing the forms will be the critical operation. The preparation of regular office papers does not follow the same rules of registration as these forms must. Each of the pre printed lines or boxes must be lined up directly under each other. This is done so any writing or drawing will fall within those boxes or on those lines. This is important so there is no misunderstanding about where, on the form, it belongs.

Just as anything can be printed on a piece of paper for all sorts of reasons, anything can be printed on a carbon less form as well. The designing stage may be fairly simple as the client and the printer simply writes what they need on some paper. It will be composed or set within a computer program and a hard copy will be presented for acceptance. After it is declared good, a printing plate will be made for the production part of the process.

Since the form will end up being a carbon less one, some very special paper will have to be used to create it. The coating that is on these papers is what transfers the image from one sheet to the next. They have to be printed and collated in a certain way in order for the system to work as it is supposed to. The combination of colors will also be a factor.

It is important that the top sheet, in any form packet, have this coating on the back. The second sheet will have this special coating of the front. This is simple for a two part form, however, in a three part form the second sheet will also have that coating on the back. The third will have it on the front and if a fourth sheet will be used the third will have it on the back as well.

The printing is accomplished and the papers are collated in the proper way. A special padding compound is used to make these special form packets. It is not the same compound as is used to make note pads. This adhesive takes its orders from the way the coated paper is collated. After padding or gluing, the entire pile of papers will be fanned to break away form each other making individual form units consisting of two, three, four or more pages in each unit.

There is still a vital need for paper that does not come out of a computer printer. The need for these forms will ensure this technology does not end very soon. The carbonless printing industry is still a large one and can be accessed through many outlets in business districts and online. Immediate copies and a clear image is necessary for many business papers and this is the best choice in many applications.
